Lamb Lead Contest Regulations
Purpose: To show the beauty of wool dressing with the beauty of the sheep pelt, to add another dimestion to the Junior Sheep Show, to promote wool products.

Eligibility: Contestant must be an Oklahoma 4-H or FFA member. Contestant does not have to be an exhibitor in the Sheep Division of the Oklahoma Youth Expo in order to participate.

Health: Health Certificates are required.

Entries: These animals will be subject to the on-line entry procedures of the Oklahoma Youth Expo. An entry fee of $10 must be paid by all contestants entering the Lamb Lead Competition. Contestants must confirm entry with the superintendents between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008, in the State Fair Arena.

Personal Introduction and Garment Description: click here to download this form Each lamb lead constestant must complete the Personal Introduction and Garment Description Form. This form is to be fully completed and mailed ot the Lamb Lead Superintendent, Tammy Kline, by February 14, 2008. Mailing information is listed on the introduction form. If the Introduction and Garment Description Form is not provided prior to the event, it MUST be TYPED when turned in at registration.

Age-Registrations: Animal to be led must be registered/unregistered ewe lamb or yearling ewe.

Ownership: Animal does not have to be owned by the contestant.

Training-Decorations: Animal must be trained to be halter led. Moderate decorations are acceptable. Consideration for animal's safety and comfort must be given.

Divisions: There will be four divisions with age determined by January 1, 2008.

Section 1 Novice Division Age 9-10
Section 2 Junior Division Age 11-12
Section 3 Intermediate Division Age 13-15
Section 4 Senior Division Age 16-19

Garment: Contestant must furnish his or her own garment. Garment can be purchased or self-made and must be a minimum of 60% wool.

Judging Criteria: There are a total of 100 points that will be awarded on the following:

Person - 25 points
Poise and appearance will be judged.
First impression, posture, poise, grooming, etc.

Garment - 30 points
Mode of dress shall be attractive and lend elegance to the class competition.
Outfit, color, design, accessories

Interview - 25 points
Ability to answer questions
Knowledge of sheep and wool industry
Poise and ease of self

Sheep - 20 points
Control and presentation of animal will be judged.
General appearance, cleanliness, grooming (trim job)
Training, lamb handles easily, appears to have been worked with

Awards: Awards in all divisions are as follows:
1st - $50, 2nd - $40, 3rd - $30, 4th - $20, 5th - $15, 6th - $10
Division Champion - Trophy and $250 scholarship
Reserve Division Champion - Trophy
