Sale Selection

  • Ewes making the sale will include all Breed Champion Ewes (6) and nine other ewes as selected by the judge.
  • Ewes will be selected for the sale by the judge. No scratches will be allowed. Exhibitors may have more than one ewe in the sale.
  • All ewes making the sale will need to get a photo taken after selection in order to post the sale line up on the internet. OYE Sheep officials will direct the exhibitor to the appropriate place to take the photo.
  • Ewes will be penned in an area designated by the OYE Management one hour following the completion of sale selection, and will remain in that designated area until the completion of the sale.
  • Exhibitors are expected to care for their sale animals until the completion of the sale on Saturday, March 19, 2011.
  • It is recommended that exhibitors have genetic information available (both DNA and Sire and Dam information) for potential buyers to view during the bidding time. This may greatly affect the interest in your animal to potential buyers.

Sale Information

  • The ewes will be available for viewing one hour following the conclusion of the sale selection.
  • Each ewe will have a bid sheet available for buyers on location to place bids on that particular animal. The exhibitor may set a minimum price on this sheet to start the silent bidding process. The exhibitor will be responsible for the 15% commission if no bids are made on their ewe.
  • Anyone interested in buying a sale ewe will then get a buyer number from the OYE main office, and then place their buyer number with the next highest price on the bid sheet of any of the sale entries. Once a new bid is placed, it will be updated on-line to reflect the change in bid price.
  • On-line bidding will be available at (will be updated soon!)
  • The open bidding on all ewes will start on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 8:00 a.m. The bidding will close on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 7:00 p.m.
  • All sale entries will be subject to a 15% commission for the OYE Scholarship program.
  • Exhibitors will be responsible for their ewes until the buyer has paid for and presented a receipt to them.
